A Ring for Miriam. A ruby, a personal engraving, and a race against the clock. Miriam's family customised the Spiral Signet Ring to be ready in time for her birthday. Sterling silver and 18ct yellow gold plating with a hand-selected ruby, made unmistakably hers.

MIRIAM’S STORY:

Some commissions arrive with a specific piece in mind, and a very specific reason behind it. That was the case when Miriam's family got in touch ahead of a special birthday, with a clear idea already forming: the Spiral Signet, made uniquely hers.

The Spiral Signet is one of our signature designs, sterling silver layered with 18ct yellow gold plating, its spiral face catching the light differently with every turn of the hand. It's a piece that already carries a quiet sense of occasion, which is exactly why Miriam's family chose it as the starting point.

What made this piece hers alone was the addition of a ruby, set into the design especially for the occasion. A ruby carries its own meaning, warmth, vitality, a colour bold enough to mark a milestone worth celebrating. Set within the familiar spiral of the signet, it became something entirely new: still recognisably the Spiral Signet, but composed around Miriam and this particular birthday. Inside the band, a personal engraving carries a message just for her, seen only by Miriam each time she puts the ring on.

There was one more thing that made this commission memorable: the timing. Miriam's family came to us with the birthday already fixed, which meant the ring needed to be designed, made and ready in time to hand it to her on the day itself. It's not always possible to turn a commission around that quickly, but the occasion mattered enough to make it happen and there's something particularly special about a piece created under that kind of pressure still arriving exactly as it should.

This is the part of customisation that never gets old, watching a piece that already exists become something personal, simply through the choice of a single stone, a few engraved words, and the care taken to have it ready in time. The Spiral Signet's form stayed exactly as it was designed to be; the ruby and the engraving are what make this one Miriam's, and no one else's.
